WhatsApp web won’t scan QR code? Quick & Easy solution 2022!

Whatsapp web QR code on telephone screen

WhatsApp web won’t let you scan QR code? In this article we will help you with resolving this problem!
To quickly help you resolve your problem, these are the possible fixes:

1. Your internet connection is blocking WhatsApp

This usually happens if you’re using a public, school, or workplace internet connection. Many places like these restrict or limit access to websites such as WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter for either security concerns or to prevent employees or students from distractions during school or work hours. Even if they manage to load, they can’t do so thoroughly, preventing the QR code from showing.

Some free public Wi-Fi networks, such as those at airports, charge users a certain fee to utilize their internet for using messaging apps. This would also prevent the WhatsApp website and its QR code from properly loading.

You can’t change the settings of an internet network that doesn’t belong to you. If you want to use WhatsApp in your school or office, use the WhatsApp app on your cell phone. Or create a local hotspot using your phone’s Wi-Fi or USB tethering option.

If you’re on a network that doesn’t have any restrictions, then the reason why WhatsApp web won’t scan QR code on your computer might be a different problem.

2. Your internet browser is blocking the QR image

Your internet browser could be the problem resulting in the QR code that won’t scan. This can happen due to several reasons:

Your browser is too old

If, for whatever reason, you’re using a browser too old then WhatsApp web won’t scan your QR code. You can fix this very easily by updating your internet browser. You can do this by either using the browser’s built-in update feature or by searching and downloading the latest version of your browser from its website.

You have disabled images or media

If your browser has media disabled, WhatsApp web won’t scan your QR code. If you have disabled media, enable it. If you haven’t done that, then the easiest way to fix that is to reset your browser settings to default. This will likely solve other possible issues with your browser as well.

An ad blocker is intervening

If you’ve installed an ad blocker on your browser or computer, it may be accidentally detecting WhatsApp web QR code’s frame as an advertisement. Ad blockers, by default, don’t do that. But if their filters are set too extreme, or if you have accidentally blacklisted WhatsApp web’s QR code frame, the ad blocker won’t let it load.

Either reduce the ad blocker’s strictness, reset the filters to default, or uninstall the ad blocker altogether.

Your cookies need clearing

Sometimes the cookies that help a webpage load faster get corrupt and prevent the page from loading properly. If the WhatsApp website isn’t loading correctly, try clearing the cookies.

You can do that from your browser’s settings or by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Delete on your PC (Cmd+Shift+Delete for Mac).

Disable add-ons or extensions

Buggy, outdated, unstable, or infected add-ons and extensions installed in your browser also hinder its ability to properly load images like QR codes. Start your browser in safe mode, or with all add-ons disabled, and see if this fixes the WhatsApp QR code from not loading.

3. Change your browser

If you’ve tried all the methods mentioned above and the WhatsApp web still won’t scan your QR code, change your browser. Sometimes browsers get updated with unstable versions, which can have bugs preventing certain features from working correctly. Consider changing your browser and check if the WhatsApp web QR code loads.

If your browser is working fine and WhatsApp web still won’t scan your QR code, then one of the last probable reasons could be:

4. Your proxy/firewall is blocking WhatsApp web

A proxy, VPN, or firewall can sometimes restrict your access to specific websites.

If you’re using a VPN, just disable it.

If you’re using a proxy to connect to the internet, try removing it. You can do that by going to internet explorer settings/internet options/connections/LAN settings in windows. Once there, look for the option “Proxy server” and uncheck the box below it.

You can also try disabling your firewall and see if that allows the WhatsApp web QR code to show.

5. Your camera is not working

Why is my phone not scanning the WhatsApp QR code? Is something you might say after reading all the methods above. The last possible option could be that your camera is not working properly.
Test your camera by making a picture. Try cleaning your camera lens.

If the WhatsApp QR code is still not loading, contact your internet service provider.

We hope that we have fixed your WhatsApp QR code from not working.
