Coworking in Amsterdam: six providers and a practical selection guide

Finding a suitable workplace can be difficult when you start freelancing or move to Amsterdam. Coworking and flexible offices offer different answers: an occasional desk, a fixed place or a private office for a team. The six providers below retain the names from our original selection and offer a starting point for comparing those choices.

Provider information was checked in October 2026. This is not an objective ranking. The important details are the actual building, available workspace and terms of your plan, rather than old location counts or amenities assumed to apply everywhere.

StartDock

StartDock offers coworking, private offices, virtual offices and meeting rooms, with community and collaboration central to its presentation. Its Amsterdam locations include addresses on Herengracht, Keizersgracht, Prins Hendrikkade and Singel.

If you are starting with a small team, ask whether space can grow with you. Also clarify which meeting facilities your plan includes and what shared activities take place. A community is most useful when the timing and format of its gatherings suit how you work.

Baxter Building

Baxter Building is at Muiderstraat 1 and presents a range of office options. It is worth comparing if you want a business environment with supporting services. Ask to see currently available units rather than relying on a previously advertised minimum number of desks.

During a visit, establish how clients are received and which spaces would be private or shared. Test the route from public transport to the actual office too. An address and a reception photograph do not reveal every detail of day-to-day access.

Tribes Amsterdam

Tribes lists several Amsterdam locations, including Amstel Station, Arena, Raamplein and Zuidas addresses. Design was already a distinguishing feature in the original selection. For a working decision, however, the particular combination of location, workspace and service matters more than a decorative theme.

Ask whether membership applies to one building or several, how changing locations works and which spaces require booking. Confirm any fitness or other additional facilities at the specific building if they influence your choice.

Mindspace

Mindspace presents several Amsterdam settings, including Dam at Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal 162 and Herengracht at Herengracht 168. Its current offer covers different office and workspace arrangements, so the earlier blanket description of four locations is not a reliable planning basis.

Check that the product you want is available at the building you prefer. A private team office has different requirements from an occasional individual desk. If events, showers or bringing a pet are important, ask about those arrangements explicitly rather than assuming that every site is identical.

WeWork Amsterdam

WeWork offers coworking and private office options in Amsterdam. Its provider descriptions include meeting rooms, phone booths and shared areas, with access and availability depending on the building and product.

Pay particular attention to booking credits, additional meeting costs and guest rules. A basic monthly price may work very differently for a team holding frequent client meetings than for someone working mostly alone. Ask for a comparison based on your likely usage.

Workspace 6

Workspace 6 describes a community-focused setting at the end of Tussen de Bogen, under the railway tracks near Centraal Station and just north of the Jordaan. Its creative surroundings make it a distinct option alongside larger operators.

Test the same practical points you would elsewhere: sound levels during your working hours, places for calls and space for your equipment. Confirm older descriptions of special rooms or musical instruments if those features are central to your interest.

Questions that make a viewing worthwhile

  • Can you try a normal working day, including a video call?
  • Is a desk guaranteed, or do you need to reserve it?
  • What hours apply to members, visitors and staffed reception?
  • Which charges are additional, including rooms, printing, deposits and taxes?
  • What commitment and notice period apply?
  • What are the rules for a business address, mail and use by additional team members?

Compare quotations for the same number of people and attendance days. Include the likely cost of meetings instead of treating every shared facility as unlimited. Keep a note of practical drawbacks and unanswered questions alongside price and appearance.

For example, someone visiting once a week may value predictable day access more than a permanent desk. A team handling confidential calls may need private space even if an open-plan membership costs less. The right option is the one you can use reliably under terms that fit your working pattern.
