Top-rated safest cars to get in 2022

safest-cars-2022

In a world where it’s way safer to travel by air than a car, we need to promote safer ways to drive into road traffic. Sometimes, the problem is the condensed traffic, which increases by the year, despite the number of roads. But sometimes, the cars that we choose also provide a lower or higher level of safety. This is why we’re going to recommend a list of the safest cars you can get in 2022 so that you’ll have the smoothest drive anywhere.

Audi A6

Even though Audi may not be known as a car made for safety ―but for speed, this particular model has a smooth powertrain and high-tech cabin. It’s got quite a good score on the safety tests:

  • Adult occupant safety: 93%. The car seems incredibly equipped for lateral impacts, whiplash rear impacts and full-width frontal impacts for the driver and the passenger next to him.
  • Child occupant safety: 85%. Here, the scores are not that good, but they can be improved. The test performance scored 22.9 points out of 24, and the car is yet to be improved for a frontal impact.
  • Vulnerable road users: 81%. Audi can detect when pedestrians were hit and is also able to identify pedestrians and cyclists.
  • Safety assist: 76%. The car has a seatbelt reminder, a lane support system and a driver-set speed limit option. But it still performed decently in the emergency lane keeping test and the human-machine interface system.

Audi A6 is a great car that provides a turbocharged 3.0-litre and V-6 engine, balanced handling due to the battery’s location and plenty of screens with which you can control absolutely anything inside and outside the car.

Honda Accord

Next, we’ve got the Honda Accord, which is one of the most spacious and driver-friendly cars. Although a new model is coming up in 2023, the 2018 one is almost the same in terms of specs. Based on the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highways Safety), Honda Accord got top marks in crash prevention and avoidance tests, and it also got good grades regarding:

  • Crashworthiness, with a great roof strength;
  • Mitigation, with superior quality in front crash prevention in vehicle-vehicle encounters and vehicle-to-pedestrian.
  • The seat belts and child restraints have the best scores yet, which makes the Honda Accord an excellent car for families.

Why is it so important for cars to perform safety tests? Road traffic casualties are causing around 1,35 million people to die annually, according to the World Health Organisation. To prevent such unfortunate events, car manufacturers are trying to bring more safety into their machines, partly because, in most cases, accidents happen due to negligence or alcohol intake. The lowest risk of road traffic injury is in the European Region and the United Kingdom.

And if you’ll ever experience a road accident, you can make a car accident claim in the UK in order to get compensation to cover the costs of any medical issue and the costs of fixing your car. You’re eligible when another road participant has failed to drive safely, and as a result, you may have experienced a severe injury.

Kia Stinger

Moving on to a different brand, Kia Stinger also got great test results. Still, apparently, it’s not actually a good choice for people with kids because the model’s LATH function’s ease of use was rated marginal by IIHS. But the car excels in:

  • Adult occupant safety: 93%. The tests indicated good protection of the knees and femurs of the driver and passenger. Although it’s got a poor rating for the pelvis’ safety, it has maximum points for the side barrier impact.
  • Pedestrian safety: 78%. Kia Stinger works to identify different sizes of pedestrians over a wider range of speeds. The autonomous emergency braking systems have also performed well in tests of pedestrian detection.
  • Safety Assist: 82%. The seatbelt reminder, lane assistance and speed assistance systems have all performed well in the tests.

Toyota Camry

Toyota is already known for manufacturing high-quality cars, vans and trucks, setting the standard for durability. Still, this model is among the best of them all. All Camry models are provided with a driver-assistance technology that can enable various levels of autonomous driving and detect nearby obstacles and driver errors.

On the IIHS website, you can find that Toyota Camry has:

  • Superior scores on front crash prevention;
  • Great scores regarding crashworthiness, although the side test was rated as poor because the dummy was greatly injured at the torso and pelvis, while the head protection has been found inadequate.
  • Great result in roof strength, with a strength-to-weight ratio of 5,67 points.
  • Good scores in head restraints and seats.

With good average scores, Toyota Camry is a spacious and comfortable car, it delivers excellent fuel economy and is well-equipped for any kind of trip.

Volvo V60 Cross Country

With an impressive score of 96% for both adult and child occupant protection, Volvo V60 has been awarded an overall five-star rating, which makes it one of the safest cars in terms of crashworthiness and crash avoidance and mitigation. It’s got superior results in front crash preventions for vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian tests, with a great strength-to-weight ratio of the roof of 5,73.

Its best features include:

  • Google Maps built in, with real-traffic information and automatic retouring;
  • Google Assistant and Google Play;
  • An air purifier that prevents up to 95% of hazardous particles from entering the cabin;
  • Remote apps that include locking and unlocking the car, cabin pre-cleaning and cabin heating or cooling;
  • Assisted safety that helps you park, cross oncoming traffic, avoid collisions and ease stress in busy traffic;
  • 360° parking view with flank sensors to increase awareness of objects at the side of the car;

Wrapping up

When choosing a new car, you should ensure that it can provide safety for you and your family because sometimes you can’t be cautious enough. We believe these cars are a great guideline to help you get something that’ll fit your lifestyle and will keep you away from accidents.
