The Windows Live brand got discontinued back in August 2012. Microsoft phased out the live domain after the release of Windows 8 to its manufacturers. Therefore, you can no longer create live.com email addresses.

Wrapping up
Either you create an email address using @Outlook.com or @Hotmail.com, you’ll always be redirected to Outlook.com to send and receive the emails. It is important to note that Outlook.com has replaced Live.com email domains and does not further entertain it.
If you have an old live.com email address, then don’t worry: it will still log in. However, you cannot make a new one using @Live.com anymore.
Whether you’re using @Outlook.com or @Hotmail.com email, you can log in to your Windows PC conveniently.
