How Do Snap Scores Work in 2026?

How Do Snap Scores Work

Your Snapscore is a number associated with your activity on Snapchat. The platform confirms some factors that contribute to it, but does not publish the complete calculation. That distinction matters: a score can tell you something about overall use without revealing an exact count of every action or conversation.

This guide has been updated for 2026. It separates the information Snapchat confirms from common guesses, explains where to look for the number and covers the official Snapchat+ multiplier. You do not need a third-party calculator or access to somebody else’s login details to understand the feature.

An earlier version included a video from TechJunkie. Older walkthroughs can help with the general layout, but their scoring claims may not reflect current features. Use the explanation below rather than treating an old video as a complete formula.

How does Snapscore work?

Snapchat says its calculation includes Snaps sent and received, Stories posted and other factors it does not fully disclose. It is therefore misleading to present an exact universal points table for every action. Claims that adding a friend, watching Discover or maintaining a streak always gives a particular number of points need evidence beyond somebody’s observation.

The score belongs to your account and should not be treated as a detailed activity log. Seeing a change does not tell another person which friend you contacted, what you sent or why you used the app. Several different patterns of use can contribute to a total.

For example, comparing two friends’ scores cannot establish who spends more meaningful time talking to others. Their accounts may have different histories and usage patterns. A large number can simply reflect accumulated activity; it is not a rating of popularity, honesty or the quality of somebody’s friendships.

How to find your own score

  1. Open Snapchat and go to your Profile screen.
  2. Look underneath your name for the Snapscore.
  3. If tapping the number opens more detail in your app version, read the labels shown there.

The illustration below shows the score area on a profile. The surrounding design may differ in your version, so use the name and score location as your guide.

Do not expect a displayed breakdown to reveal the entire scoring system. Even when the app shows counts for particular activities, Snapchat also refers to other factors. If your arithmetic does not match the total, that alone does not establish a fault or hidden behaviour by another user.

Viewing a friend’s score

Open the person’s friendship profile from your friends list or conversation and look for the score near their profile information. Check that you are viewing the intended person, especially where display names are similar. A profile page and a chat message are different screens, and the information available can differ.

If you cannot see a number, avoid jumping to a conclusion about the relationship. Check that you have opened the expected profile and that the app is working normally. A missing field is not a reliable basis for accusations, and third-party tools should not be used to try to bypass another person’s privacy.

The official Snapchat+ Snapscore Multiplier

Snapchat documents a multiplier for Snapchat+ subscribers. When enabled, the score can grow twice as fast for Snaps sent to or received from other Snapchat+ subscribers. The feature is off by default. Snapchat’s instructions place the setting under My Account, through the Snapchat+ membership card, where the multiplier can be toggled on.

This is different from an outside service claiming to sell score increases. It also means that two people can see different changes even when their visible activity looks similar. Do not buy a subscription solely because another person’s total appears higher; consider whether its features are useful to you.

Can you lower or reset a Snapscore?

Snapchat states that there is no way to lower or reset the score. Be cautious of anyone offering a reset in exchange for a payment, login or recovery code. There is no reason to hand over account access to change a number that Snapchat does not offer a reset control for.

If the number bothers you, focus on how you want to use the app rather than trying to alter its history. You can decide when to open Snapchat, whom to contact and how much attention to give the score. A competition with friends does not require you to send unwanted messages or add strangers.

What to do when the score seems wrong

Check that you are viewing the correct account and that the app is up to date. Note what you actually observed, such as a displayed total that differs between two screens, rather than assuming a specific missing points award. If the issue persists, use Snapchat’s own support options and describe the device, app version and relevant screens.

Keep screenshots free of private conversations when asking for help. Never provide authentication codes to someone claiming they can repair your score. The most useful starting point is the visible problem, not a promise from an unofficial booster.
