While most people are members of many Facebook groups, they only pay attention to one or two. To be one of these groups, you need to offer a variety of specialised content and interactions that let your most loyal fans and customers feel like they are part of a community.

Offer value in your Facebook group

The most successful groups are the ones that offer the most value and encourage engagement and connections between their members. Adding value means that your group members must get something from their membership that they simply cannot get from your public Facebook page. This can be something simple like exclusive content or offers while making sure there is someone on hand from your business who is ready to answer your members’ questions every few hours. Customers love having what feels like exclusive access to your team.

Encourage engagement

Whether you are giving your members special insider news and stories or giving them the ability to provide early feedback on your latest projects, the important thing is to give people a reason to pay attention and actively engage with you and each other. The best way of generating value for your members is by answering questions and comments. At the very least, engage as often and with as many people as possible in some way since this makes your members feel like they are important; when that happens, your group’s perceived value dramatically increases.

Keep your group active

The driving force behind your group’s value and its membership numbers is the activity level. There are plenty of ways to ensure that activity and engagement levels remain high, so try the following:

  • Use lots of types of media.
  • Ask for feedback.
  • Create polls based around discussion points.
  • Respond to members as quickly as possible.
  • Ask open-ended questions.
  • Tag active or influential members in posts.

Facebook groups are an excellent and cost-effect way of increasing your business reach. Ultimately, they offer a way to show that you are more than just a business; instead, you show that you are a group of people united behind a common culture.
